Role*
Prime Consultant, Venue Planner
The 2007 Cricket World Cup was staged in the West Indies. The Bermuda Cricket Board, as an affiliate member of the West Indies Cricket Board, bid for the right to stage first round matches, as allowed by the bid protocols. The technical bid, as prepared by Robert Johnston and his sport design team, received a very high ranking from the Venue Assessment Team in its evaluation of the twelve bidding countries. The bid included the development of the stadium on the site of the Bermuda National Sports Centre, a 25 acre site in the centre of the island that contains spaces and areas for athletics, rugby, soccer, as well as a planned indoor facility with gymnasium, aquatic, fitness, sports medicine and support spaces.
